Darnisha Hunter Announces Candidacy For Imperial Beach City Council
(Imperial Beach, Calif.) – Darnisha Hunter has announced her bid for Imperial Beach City Council. Hunter’s campaign will be focused on creating good-paying jobs, affordable housing, public safety, and protecting the environment for the next generation.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to go to work for the people of Imperial Beach. I love this community and will work hard to help our economy grow, while protecting the environment,” said Hunter.
“Darnisha’s success in business mixed with her extensive local government experience is exactly the type of person needed on the City Council,” said local nonprofit Founder Danny O'Malley. “She is a hard worker and has a focused attitude. She gets things done and I’m proud to support her.”
Hunter currently serves as the Senior Community Representative and Active Duty/Veteran Advocate for San Diego Mayor Faulconer. In that role, she finds housing and job opportunities for military veterans and resolves quality-of-life issues for neighborhood residents. She also currently sits on the Imperial Beach Design and Review Board, serves as Vice President of the Imperial Beach Historical Society, and is a member of the Imperial Beach Lions Club.
Hunter has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications, information technology, and construction industries – including becoming the first African-American woman to be appointed Regional Manager for The Eastridge Group employment agency’s T3 Staffing Division.
